Microsoft has expanded the Office footprint to iPad and Android tablets. In addition, new apps have been added to the Office family with Sway and Office Lens. All designed to keep you working wherever you are.

While you’ve seen a focus on aligning Office across platforms over the past year, make no mistake, Office on the Windows desktop is central to our strategy. Office 2007, Office 2010, Office 365, or Office 2013 users can open documents they’ve created without any additional action. Customers using earlier versions of Office may need to download and install a compatibility pack. New in Microsoft Office 2016: Your documents anywhere – Office 2016 apps make it easier to leverage the power of feature-rich apps to create, open, edit, and save files in the cloud from your desktop, so you can access them anywhere, on any device.

In addition, new modern attachments in Outlook make it easy to attach files from OneDrive and automatically configure recipient permissions – without leaving Outlook. Collaboration – Real-time co-authoring is available today in Office Online apps, and we’re bringing this experience to Windows desktop apps, starting with Word. When you and your team are working in Word 2016 and/or Office online, you can see where other editors are working and what they’re writing—all in real time. Intelligent apps—Apps learn as you work, leveraging subtle cues and cues to help you stay on task and get more out of Office.
